The Mystic Krewe of Apollo de New Orleans returned in 2020 after three decades out of the limelight with the celebration of its Resurrection Bal Masque and the 50th anniversary of the first Apollo ball.
Many things happened in the 50 years since the original Krewe of Apollo New Orleans Bal Masque was held at the Hotel Monteleone, and on this special night for all Apollo Krewes, the Mystic Krewe of Apollo de New Orleans celebrated many of those milestones in the same place where the Apollo franchise held its first Bal Masque in 1970.
The Resurrection Bal Masque (a true masked ball) was an ode to the original Bal Masque and treated guests to dinner and a night of entertainment. It also saw the presentation of King and Queen Apollo New Orleans XVIII Dr. Walter Patrick Cain III and Kitty Fouche (aka John Bertrand) and the return of three former monarchs from Apollo New Orleans earlier history to celebrate the revival (Glyce DiMiceli, King Apollo New Orleans I, 1970; Joseph Reine Jr., Queen Apollo New Orleans XVII, 1986; and Russell Talluto, King Apollo New Orleans XV, 1984).
Thanks to all the charter members and board members of the revived Krewe of Apollo New Orleans, who served as the honorary captains for this event!
