Mr. and Miss Apollo New Orleans
The Mr. and Miss Apollo program is one of the ways the Mystic Krewe of Apollo de New Orleans supports both new and established performers/artists in the community. In addition to the titles of Mr. and Miss Apollo New Orleans that are awarded each year, those title holders also go on to participate in the Mr. and Miss National Apollo program, which is organized in collaboration with all other Apollo Krewes.
Mr. and Miss Apollo are not royalty for the Krewe in the traditional sense of picking Kings and Queens for the Krewe (See our royalty listings here...), but they do serve as ambassadors for the Apollo New Orleans (or for all Apollo Krewes in the case of Mr. and Miss National Apollo). They capture the titles based on their proficiency/artistry in preparing and presenting a costume, formal wear/evening gown, and talent.
In only a few years since the resurrection of the Mystic Krewe of Apollo de New Orleans, three of our local title holders also have gone on to capture national titles (two as Miss National Apollo and one as Mr. National Apollo).
