Apollo New Orleans Balls
2020-Now and 1970-1986

After more 30 years out of the limelight, the Mystic Krewe of Apollo de New Orleans was revived by members of the Apollo family from Lafayette and Baton Rouge working in conjunction with a number of charter members from the New Orleans area. Apollo New Orleans held its Resurrection Bal Masque in 2020 to celebrate the founding of the Apollo franchise 50 years before. Three members of the Royalty from the 1970-1986 were on hand for the Resurrection Bal Masque to crown the new King and Queen XVIII. Then after a delay brought on by Covid-19, the next ball was held in 2022, and the Krewe continues to grow and thrive.

Unfortunately, after its original run from 1969 (and the first ball in 1970) to 1986, many of the Krewe of Apollo in New Orleans founders and active members did not survive until the end of 1986, and Apollo in New Orleans went dormant for more than 30 years. However, Apollo Krewes in Baton Rouge, Birmingham and Baton Rouge lived on until Apollo New Orleans was revived in 2018, and members of all of those Krewes participated in the Resurrection Bal Masque in 2020 celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first Apollo Ball in New Orleans.
